NOTE, 12/31/10...i just added a couple of entries - and screening eliminated three times as many as i added, including some folks i NEVER expected to see disappear. anyone who knows of a reputable member-run shelter or service site, PLEASE give us their listing...things are getting worse, not better, and the existing shelters are overloaded - we need more people helping!
...to save my sanity (and because the programming will do it automatically as named are added), and everyone's feelings, i have set this up alphabetically. (no favoritism, lol.) nor are the shelters "rated" or "certified", as everyone has their own approach to helping the pets and i don't feel it's my place to pass judgment on their methods or policies one way or the other. i WILL, however, remove listings that demonstrate unethical conduct toward pets or members - leave a message if you feel there is a problem, and i will look into it.
i have set up only two sections at this point - Service Sites and Shelters. i was originally going to try to segment fostering vs. adoption, but there are too many sites that do both for that to work. i may also be emplacing a section for foster lists in need of care, depending on feedback.
